Pavers Foresight Foundation makes Hope Foundations` dream a reality

Press Release Body: Chennai, October 3, 2008: 220 happy faces greeted SPB Charan with a happy cry of “Saroja” as he entered the Hope Foundation School at “Kannagi Nagar”, Thoriapakkam, 30km.
They had every reason to smile - For it was the momentous occasion where the Pavers Foresight Foundation (PFF) made a renewed commitment to support the cause of primary education in India, starting with their own school.
The Pavers Foresight Foundation is supported by Ms Catherine Pavers, Chairperson Paver Ltd, UK and Mr. Ravi Kumar Mehrotra, CVE, Chairman Foresight Group, London to focus on providing access and improving the primary education in India.
The foundation made a beginning by adopting the school in 2004, where they support the day to day running of the establishment at Rs. 15 lac per annum.
Announcing to the community their commitment to see a new facility on the land allotted by the State Government, Mr. Nanban, Joint Managing Director said “We are setting aside a seed capital of USD 50000 (Rs. 22 lacs), towards the operations of the School, and will pledge a further amount of USD 1 million (Rs.4 Crs) over the next few years.”
Mr. Yavar Dhala, Managing Director, Pavers England announced that our retail brand “Pavers” is committed towards support for the social cause of providing primary education in India and to this extent Pavers England, our retail venture would donate a percentage from every sale towards this noble and needy cause.
Mr. Jason Pavers, the third generation trustee of the foundation said “For many years Pavers Shoes has promoted the importance of education around the world. In particular, the importance of primary education in establishing the foundations from which future success is built upon cannot be over emphasised. It is with these principles in mind that Pavers is delighted to announce its continued support to the Hope Foundation with the long term ambition of advancing education both in Tamil Nadu and throughout India.”
The entire senior management and Trustees of PFF signed a pledge and it was presented by Chief Guest SPB Charan to the School represented by Dr. Ashok Prabhat.
SPB Charan complimented the Pavers Foresight Foundation for their generous gesture. Commenting on the power of friendship, he said “I am seeing how a great friendship between a community and corporate has blossomed to change the lives of these children. As an Actor, I have been part of two films around the theme of friendship - but you have given me a new idea to explore”.
He also signed a Photo-Autograph for the school.
About the school:
At present, the school runs in a house in Thoriapakkam, on the ground and first floor - 2000 sq. ft. 220 students study here – from UKG till Std. VI., following the Tamil Nadu Matriculation Board, in English medium. The education is completely free and there is a clear focus on overall social, psychological , physical and academic development of the child.
The School which was set up by the Friend of Hope Foundation caters to the 10,000 families who reside in this colony for rehabilitated slummers. The School is recognized by the District Education Office. Children here are disciplined - speak English - participate in annual games in the school - and try out dance and other arts to entertain parents visiting the school on Special Days. The school regularly displays educational CDs and Videos. Teachers take extra classes for the difficult lessons. Slow learners get extra help.
